Here’s what I expected from visiting Vatican: Meeting the Pope! I wish during my visit there, Pope would suddenly come out, wave his hand and send his blessing. Of course, it didn’t happen. I guess Pope was really busy last Easter, I heard he just returned from some where in South America.

I grew with these scenes on my TV: on Christmas or Easter, one huge beautiful golden church was filled with hundreds (or even thousands) of people, inside and outside. One old man in his “tunic” was walking slowly through the aisle, surrounded with the others men. He led the mass, sent blessing through all over the world. This old man, I later knew as grew up, was Pope John Paul II. I have never forgotten his peaceful face.

So standing there in Vatican City, looking at that same beautiful church that I saw on the TV during my childhood brought all those memories back. I just whispered, “I can’t believe I’m finally here.”

Saint Peter’s Cathedral, I believe, is the most famous cathedral in the whole world. This cathedral is truly one finest work of art. It looked like it has been carved perfectly on its every inch. Its marbles pillars, its golden ceilings, its brilliant paintings, all combined creating, well, luxurious look. I don’t want to sound judging or what, but, this magnificent cathedral really looked luxury, at one point I barely felt its peace. Maybe this happened because there were just too many people inside and I was in a haste, I have so little time to explore this church. I would love to visit Saint Peter in a whole different way, where I could enjoy every part of this magnificent cathedral without being in a hurry.
